About Psychological Counselling
Psychological counselling aims to support clients to alleviate psychological distress and to empower them to live successful, independent and fulfilling lives.
Using a strengths-based, empathic and non-judgemental approach, I aim to assist clients in identifying and resolving individual, interpersonal and lifestyle factors that impact on their wellbeing. This entails a collaborative exploration of the clients thoughts, feelings and behaviours and how they influence mental health.
What Conditions Can it Help?
Psychological counselling can significantly help to reduce depressive symptoms and all types of anxiety (e.g. worry, panic, specific phobias), however it is about much more than alleviating distress. Clients can be supported in gaining greater agency in their lives, and be supported in developing positive psychological skills such as greater assertiveness, resilience and self awareness, which protect against future suffering and promote greater engagement in life.
What Benefits can be Expected?
Clients can expect to be heard and supported through the creation of a safe, nonjudgmental space and a strong working alliance. They can expect to be equipped with tools that help them to be independent 'psychologists' so that they are empowered to manage distress and to continue to work towards a more fulfilling life experience.
